queer temporalities (or, all together now in the same breath)

How the land holds us. How we hold the land.

A new series of paintings, begun in Spring 2020 that reference as source materials - Atlantic passages of ancestors. Waterways. The collective and the singular. Mutability and the passage of time.

Every painting starts with my photographic references of place. These images are juxtaposed together–a painting contains elements of east & west coast for example–and I play with scale. I paint the landscapes where I have lived alongside the landscapes of my ancestors. Looking to land that resonates cellularly with my body, allows me to create from a place of embodied connection.
