aesthetic philistine

Thesis

This work is very much about creating a finished painting that is built in layers of paint, in alterations, in adding and deleting shapes and reworking ideas. I see this method of working as evidence of the journey.  This evidence is often most present as edges, thick and full and just slightly ragged.  This process continues until I find the moment when the work is resolved, but just barely. I am looking to evoke a tenuous kind of resolution. I am searching for the place in each painting when the process is still evident, yet there are moments that are unconventionally beautiful.
